PN/ K1 Preparation Class Information Webinar

Education is a lifelong journey and starting off on the right foot can have a profound impact on your child and their futures!

To help parents gain a better understanding of how our curated early childhood education programme facilitates children’s smooth transition to kindergarten, Dr. Richard Wong, VEO Early Childhood Academic Advisor, conducted a special information webinar on 7 March 2022.

In the webinar, Dr. Wong explored how the Preparation Class in April – July 2022 introduces the IB Inquiry Cycle and Learner Profile and lays the foundation for children’s attempts at independence, self-management, and communication with their peers.

Webinar key takeaways:

  • The programme is designed to help children acquire knowledge, values, skills and competencies, so as to develop their independence, confidence, self-management and communication skills.
  • The IB’s Inquiry Cycle and Learner Profile are integrated into the theme-based and trilingual teaching approach to nurture children’s curiosity and passion for learning.
  • Class activities, classroom rules and timetable arrangements were modelled after the PN/K1 programme to help children adjust to their new environment.
  • Developmental Report Cards*, Learning Portfolios and feedback within lessons will be provided to recognise each child’s unique growth and development process. (*upon continual 4 months’ enrolment in VPP)
  • There will be a graduation ceremony (replete with certificates and photos), festival celebrations and monthly birthday parties.
  • To let children meet their kindergarten friends earlier, we will try our best to place students from the same future VEO campuses to attend the Preparation Class together.

Online Learning Programme Information Webinar

Due to the current Covid-19 situation with clusters of cases involving the Omicron variant, Victoria Playpark is now closed through the Lunar New Year holiday. During the closure period, we are implementing our online learning programme in order to maintain children’s learning momentum and agility during in-centre class suspension.

To allow parents to have a deeper understanding of the online learning programme, as well as to answer parents’ enquiries, we hosted a webinar on Monday, 17 January 2022, 1–2PM, to be led by Dr. Richard Wong, Academic Director, CTF Education Group (Early Childhood) and Academic Advisor, Victoria Educational Organisation; and Ms. Cass Hong, a teacher from Victoria Educational Organisation, in Cantonese and English. In addition to the detailed online learning arrangements, Dr. Wong and Ms. Hong shared lots of tips about how to prepare the children before, during and after seeing the learning videos and attending Zoom live lessons; how to balance the screen time with free play; and also how to motivate the children to enjoy the online lessons.

Festive Wonderland PlayTime Post Event

During the last Christmas and New Year break, Victoria Playpark K11 MUSEA has hosted “Festive Wonderland PlayTime” themed parent-child activities from December 19-27, 31 & January 1-2.

Santa and his elves from the North Pole had enchanted Victoria Playpark this festive season by preparing  plenty of fun activities for children to participate in, including playtime in the park, festive arts and crafts, a game zone, making 3D photo balloons, and a gift corner! Many families loved taking pictures with our brilliant decorations around the park. As children engaged in our exciting activities, they practised their gross and fine motor skills and their social and emotional skills, and they were thrilled to receive a free surprise gift as well!

It was an enjoyable experience for the children, and they even did not want to leave! Not only did celebrities bring their children along, but many parents shared photos of their happy moments on social media too! We look forward to seeing you all again at our next event!

Exclusive VEO Admissions Campus Tour for VPP Parents

We were excited to arrange an exclusive Victoria Educational Organisation (VEO) Admissions Campus Tour for current Victoria Playpark (VPP) parents who applied to VEO Nursery (K1) and Pre-Nursery (PN) classes for the 2022-2023 Academic Year! The tour was a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet the principals and teachers in their first choice of VEO campus and explore the campus environments. We were thrilled to see the amount of parental interest in the education journey in VPP and VEO!

At VPP, we take pride in providing quality framework and resources for whole child development to ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten! Our play-based, trilingual programmes at VPP follow the VEO model closely so VEO’s kindergartens have been a great fit for our learners.

VPP also fully supports our students’ applications to VEO by holding exclusive events for VPP parents or students. Every year a high percentage of VPP graduates are admitted to VEO ‘s PN/K1 programmes*!

* VPP and VEO have separate admissions processes, and no guarantees can be made of acceptance.

Pumpkin Party, a parent-child holiday activities in October

Victoria Playpark K11 MUSEA has hold themed parent-child holiday activities on Sundays and public holidays in October. In the “Pumpkin Party”, children created their own  treat bag together with play time in our play park, and received a free surprise too!

 

Date: October 3, 10, 14, 17, 24, 31 (Sundays and public holidays)

Time: 11:00 – 13:00 (last entry at 12:20), 14:00 – 17:00 (last entry at 16:20)

Expert Talk on “Play is Learning and How to Facilitate Beneficial Play?”

There is a Chinese proverb that says: “Play is not good for children” and many parents rarely associate “play” with learning. Yet, many recent academic studies report the contrary: Play is actually the key to learning.

It is our honour to invite Professor Doris Cheng , Professor of Early Childhood Education at Tung Wah College, for our Expert Talk held on 21 August 2021, to share with our parents on the benefits of “Play” and how meaningful and powerful it is for children to develop skills such as inquiry, expression, experimentation and teamwork.

Guest Speaker:

Professor Doris Cheng, Professor of Early Childhood Education at Tung Wah College, and Former Professor of Department of Early Childhood Education, Education University of Hong Kong

Professor Cheng is Ex-Center Director of Childhood Research and Innovation at the Education University of Hong Kong. Her research and publications focus on early childhood curriculum and pedagogy, including teaching and learning through play and the impact of play on children. She publishes widely on early childhood education, especially on teaching and learning through play. Recently, Professor Cheng has been working to establish a PlayLab focusing on evidence-based play programmes for children in Hong Kong.

Professor Cheng has also been active in promoting play internationally. In 2014, She was invited to be the overseas consultant in a ‘Play and Learning’ project at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. She has been invited to be the core team member of the ‘True Play’ Alliance of the Anji Play in China. She is currently the core advisor of the Global Research & Innovation Network on Learning through Play organized by LEGO Foundation and has been involved in the Netherland’s NUFFIC project on the capability building of early childhood education in Bangladesh, Uganda and Tanzania.

Orientation Webinar Successfully Held!

We were thrilled to see the amount of parental interest in the education journey in Victoria Playpark (VPP) and Victoria Educational Organisation (VEO)! The Orientation Webinar was a wonderful chance to introduce how VPP’s playgroup curriculum cushions your child’s transition to pre-nursery kindergarten and how play-based playgroups and trilingualism (Cantonese, English and Putonghua) help children develop their lifelong skills. As the COVID-19 situation in Hong Kong has shown signs of easing, we are delighted to announce that Victoria Playpark is reopening its doors on Monday, October 5, 2020! Victoria Playpark welcomes new children and parents to our extended VPP family!  Together, we will engage in vibrant play-based curriculum and explore the world through inquiry-based activities.

Safety Measures of Class Resumption

On June 22nd, our VPP kids and parents return to our centres after so many months away! We are overjoyed at the prospect of seeing our students in person once again! As delighted as we are to reopen our campuses, we are cognizant of the risks COVID-19 continues to present to the health and safety of our returning students, staff and parents. As such, VPP has taken important measures to safeguard against the spread and infection of the virus. These include: surveys of potential symptoms, daily temperature checks, temperature logs, mandatory use of hand sanitizers, a thorough disinfection of all work surfaces, toys and learning tools, physical distancing and staggered class times. These safety measures will allow us to safely resume in-person sessions, while protecting our students and our dedicated team of educators. Please take a moment to check out the important video. We simply cannot wait to finally see our students in person on June 22nd!

Victoria Playpark Classes Set to Resume!

We are glad that the COVID-19 situation in Hong Kong has shown signs of easing. With this development, Victoria Playpark is set to open its doors again on Monday, June 22nd! We are excited to be resuming classes and cannot wait to see our Playpark children and parents.

Rest assured, all Playpark activities will be held in a safe and clean environment, as our centres have undergone a thorough sanitization. Toys, books and teaching materials are regularly cleaned and sanitized. In line with COVID-19 health regulations, we have arranged for smaller class sizes and shorter class times (an hour for the time being).

We ask parents to kindly take the following measures to further protect our playing and learning environment: Before class, check your children’s temperature and record it in the attendance book; Before entering the centre, all children and parents must have their temperature checked and hands sanitized; don face masks in the centre and provide your children with extra masks to change; fill out the “Health and Travel Declaration Form – Child” and return it on the first day of class, and, most importantly, be alert to the health of your children – if there is any sign of illness, such as fever, please keep your children at home and seek medical advice.
