EduMaker Voices X VPP Hold an Expert Talk on Coping with the Pandemic

The first in a series of EduMaker Voices talks geared at helping families cope with the pandemic was successfully held on 7 March, 2022. VPP presenting “Supporting Children’s Well-being During Covid”, led by Dr. Patrick Ip, Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Paediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, The University of Hong Kong and Consultant, Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong, drew parents’ substantial interests in gaining the insights on promoting and safeguarding children’s holistic and healthy development during school suspensions in the pandemic.

Key takeaways included:

  • The first three years of children’s brain development impact their habitual responses, language abilities, emotional control, and social skills, and have long-lasting effects.
  • Children’s having adequate sleep and exercise and avoiding extended use of electronic devices enhance both children’s and adults’ resilience and reduce parental stress during the pandemic.
  • Parents’ diminishing use of digital gadgets helps children to build a healthier lifestyle.
  • Positive parent-child interaction improves children’s behaviour, brain development, and school readiness (from storytelling and playing games to exercise or arts and crafts)
  • Quality education and positive parent-child interactions in the kindergarten stage play an equally important role in children’s holistic and healthy development.
  • Studies indicate that return on investment in human capital is higher in the preschool stage than during or after schooling.

The webinar provided a window into how to keep children physically and mentally healthy from complex and uncertain situations.

Exclusive VEO Admissions Campus Tour for VPP Parents

We were excited to arrange an exclusive Victoria Educational Organisation (VEO) Admissions Campus Tour for current Victoria Playpark (VPP) parents who applied to VEO Nursery (K1) and Pre-Nursery (PN) classes for the 2022-2023 Academic Year! At VPP, we take pride in providing quality framework and resources for whole child development to ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten! Our play-based, trilingual programmes at VPP follow the VEO model closely so VEO’s kindergartens have been a great fit for our learners.

VPP also fully supports our students’ applications to VEO by holding exclusive events for VPP parents or students. Every year a high percentage of VPP graduates are admitted to VEO ‘s PN/K1 programmes*!

Victoria Playpark is pleased to announce that our new campus at K11 MUSEA Tsim Sha Tsui is open! On 6 September 2019, Victoria Playpark partnered with Ohpama.com, a popular local online parenting media, to hold Experience Day at Victoria Playpark’s brand new campus at K11 MUSEA.

Parents and children attended in droves, eager to experience Victoria Playpark’s unique curriculum. The program was tailored for infants and toddlers aged 8-36 months.

During the event, children were encouraged by our teachers to experience interactive, trilingual and multi-sensory curriculum through play.

“Learning Through Play-based Experiences – An Important Part of a Child’s Early Development” Parent Seminar

“Learning through play” is widely acknowledged by professional educators as an important part of early childhood development. Victoria Playpark and Victoria Educational Organisation had hosted a parenting seminar on May 23 on “Learning Through Play-based Experiences – An Important Part of a Child’s Early Development”, with the aim to promote to parents the benefits of playing.

Children can explore and solve problems through playing, as well as improve concentration and develop cognitive skills. In this seminar, professional educators from Victoria Educational Organisation presented a series of parenting games which can help to inspire children’s creativity. Not only could it help to bond a closer family relationship but also help to develop children’s learning ability.

Early Childhood Language Learning Parents Seminar

The “Early Childhood Language Learning Parents Seminar” jointly organized by Victoria Playpark and Victoria Educational Organisation was successfully held on March 9. During the seminar, we shared with parents the essential skills for early childhood language development in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Supported by over a hundred of parents, our educators were thrilled to share with them practical parenting tips. Parents were highly engaged and found the seminar useful for their daily parenting.
